Balloon Magic

How I wish I could take these balloons home with me.

1967 was my first trip to Disneyland. It was a magical trip. One of the things I loved most were the Mickey Mouse balloons…however did they get a Mickey balloon inside another balloon? At 7, it didn’t much matter to me. I just loved them. So colorful. They made me so happy.

Ever since then, and every Disney Park trip since, I love looking at those colorful balloons and long to own one of my one. Sadly, but I never have. Why? I don’t live in Florida or California and these lovely, magical balloons are not allowed on airplanes. Until recently….

No, I don’t mean you can bring them on board inflated. Goodness, can you imagine if one were to pop mid-flight?! Disney Parks sells them un-inflated at the gift stores. So now I can purchase one and inflate it at home at any party supply store. Talk about bringing my magic home! Now my next big dilemma is deciding which color!

Here are a few other things while we are on the subject of Disney Park balloons:

  • Disneyland has been selling balloons in the Park since 1955.

  • If you ever pop a balloon while you are in the Park, just bring it back to the vendor and they will give you a new one!

  • Guest use them to tie to their strollers or EVs so you can easily find it after a ride or attraction (Cast Members are always moving those strollers around so where you parked yours will likely not be where you find it when you get off your ride.)

  • If you buy an inflated balloon at the Park and can’t take it home on the plane, then I suggest you ‘pay it forward'... Hand it to the next young guest checking in as you are leaving...Making magic for their day!
