Changes in Magic Kingdom Security & the Monorail

Travel light on the monorail now. Each monorail "entrance" is a security bag check and metal detector instead of going through security at Magic Kingdom.

If you have not been to the Magic Kingdom lately, at least not in 2017, you will encounter something new. Bag Check is no longer at the gates to Magic Kingdom. Before you used to get off the Monorail, bus, or boats and have to go through Bag Check security before entering the gates to the Park.

Effective in 2017, Disney World has moved the bag check to before you board the monorail or boats...at the Ticket and Transportation Center and at each of the Monorail resorts. The hope is that it speeds up getting into the Magic Kingdom and eliminates this bottleneck when many guest arrive/disembark all at once.

Buses or walking from the Contemporary resort will still have bag check, but it will be closer to the bus stops rather than in front of the Magic Kingdom entrance.

TIP: As always, have your bags open and unzipped for Cast Member security to inspect and to speed up getting thru the line. And if it is raining, you are better off wearing a clear rain poncho too so security can see you are not concealing any bags on your person.
