Minnie Vans Arrive at Disney World
With Minnie Van service, Disney cast members will then whisk you away to wherever you want to be at Walt Disney World Resort.
Guests will be able to arrange their own private Disney vehicle right from their smartphone* and a Minnie Van will arrive and drive you anywhere you wish at the Resort in a magical way that only Disney can do.
The majority of the Minnie Vans are not really vans either but they do seat total of 6-7, and have 2 car seats for small children.
During the pilot period, only select resorts are included and the rate is a flat rate of $20**($25. (Effective Feb. 2018) .
Update: The list of resorts where this service is being is expanding quickly, so ask at the front desk at your resort. The hours that Minnie Vans will run will be 6:30am through 12:30am. Those hours could change, depending on the needs of guests.
Minnie Vans will be convenient for anyone who does not want to wait in a long line for a bus or who is running late for a restaurant reservation. But...
[Commentary:] While this is a point to point solution, it still means that the Minnie Vans will have to navigate the traffic around Walt Disney World. With traffic and construction currently taking place, this may mean it is not a time saver. It still beats waiting for the Disney buses and driving yourself, especially if you are unfamiliar with the Disney roads. I'm guessing that the Minnie vans are only for transportation around WDW property (and not to the airport as an example).
Uber and Lyft are presently still options, but it remains to be seen if Disney will continue to allow these services without charging them a fee/surcharge to operate on Disney property, similar to what some airports do with these services today.
Still, I’m excited to see the fleet of Minnie Vans. They are so cute! And are an extra bonus if you don't want to wait for buses and want to head back to your resort for a mid-day break too. HINT: The provider of the fleet is Chevrolet, same sponsor as Test Track in EPCOT.
*No word yet on the app to order a Minnie Van or if this will be added to the MyDisneyExperience app but through a collaboration with Lyft, guests at select resorts can arrange their own private Disney vehicle right from the Lyft app on their smartphone. (photo credit: Disney)
Update Feb. 2018: While this is fantastic option for getting around Disney property, this is also more expensive than getting an Uber/Lyft. However, if you have a child that requires a booster or car seat, this may be your better option as Uber/Lyfts may not have them.
Disney also started offering Minnie Van service to the MCO airport...but it is very expensive at $150 for a one-way ride.
