EPCOT's Logo - It's meaning
Recently, EPCOT celebrated it's 35th anniversary. It got me to thinking how much EPCOT had changed from Walt's original dream of the Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow, to what it actually became, a combination of Future World and a World Showcase of nations.
While physically, the park was different from Walt's vision*, the Park itself stayed true to Walt's overall aspiration for...a celebration and hope for tomorrow.
The meaning of the Epcot original logo, according to the late Disney Imagineer, Marty Sklar.... “The EPCOT Center logo symbolizes unity, fellowship and harmony around the world. Five outer rings are linked to form the shape of a flower — a celebration of life. The heart of the logo is the Earth, embraced by a star symbolizing hope — the hope that with imagination, commitment and dedication, we can create a better tomorrow.“
Refreshing the magic- as EPCOT recently announced some upcoming changes in the next couple of years...
...Announced as coming soon to EPCOT:
- New Guardians of the Galaxy ride (replacing Ellen's Energy Adventure) rumor is this will be a roller coaster
- New Remy ride in France (between the France & Moroccan pavilions) based on the existing ride at DisneyLand Paris.
-New Mission Space theme restaurant
-Redesign of the Epcot main entry way to be a more park-like setting with more trees...don't worry, Spaceship Earth will remain.
TIP: * if you take a ride on the PeopleMover attraction in Tomorrowland when over at Magic Kingdom, you can see the actual model for Walt's Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow.
