Reasons Why Use a Taxi at Disney World
Disney offers great and complementary transportation from/to the Orlando airport and from your resort to any of the Parks (non-stop)! A few of the resorts go even further and offer boat launches to the Magic Kingdom and Disney Springs. Lastly, there are 3 resorts where you can hop on a monorail to get to the Magic Kingdom.
So why would you want to use a taxi to get around Walt Disney World? Here are a few reasons:
If you need to get to an advanced Dining Reservation that is not at a Park or at your resort and there is not Disney complementary transportation to get there, or if you are running late to your dining reservation, you will need a taxi-type service.
Taxi’s are cheaper than the Disney Minnie Van service which charge a flat $25 fee for point to point service from anywhere ON Disney property. That’s the thing with the Minnie Van service. Not only are they pricey, but they only will drive you to other Disney locations on Disney property…and not say to the local Walmart/Target store.
Taxi’s can be cheaper than Uber/Lyft IF you don’t need car seats. When you add in the cost of car seats (required to be provided by Ubers/Lyfts, but not for Taxis), then the comparison cost increases. Also, check on if the car will accommodate the number of adults traveling or if you will need a more expensive van.
Taxi’s are perhaps an option if you elect not to use the Disney Magical Express bus back to or you don’t want to wait in line for the bus.
So a taxi can be a viable form of transportation depending on your circumstances.
