Mousekeeping* Gift Card Option - What to Expect

*“Mousekeeping” is what Disney calls Housekeeping...

Disney offers guests the option of foregoing housekeeping services during their stay.

Here are some tips if you are interested in this option and saving some money:

You may have to ask at the front desk when you are checking in.

It’s at all the Values and Moderates, (previously this was only offered to the resorts under construction and was a pilot program).

It is $10 a night, excluding the first night.

They email you a gift card. You can use the gift card for charges you make during your trip, (the gift card may not be emailed to you immediately. Guests have reported it takes some time to arrive in their in box).

Note: you can request things like toilet paper, amenities, (mini toiletries if your resort offers them such as shampoo, lotion etc.). To do so, you will have to call for it. (Note: It may take you over an hour to reach someone and it can take 4 hours to get your items). You will also have to call for towels and sheets, but expect to make your beds yourself.

So whether or not you decide to take Disney up on this offer is entirely up to you. The reason behind this is that Disney is facing a staffing constraint with housekeeping services. So if you are staying for a short visit, this may be worth it to you. For longer stays or if you want your room serviced/cleaned daily, (heck why not, you are on vacation), it really depends. The savings can add up but your room will be messier.

Summary:

  • It is $10 per night excluding your first night

  • You opt in at resort check-in

  • You will receive the full amount for your stay in an e-gift card e-mailed to you.

  • It is an all-or-nothing deal. (you can't opt out for only part of your stay) but...

  • If you need any more towels, toiletries, linens, or your trash removed you can call housekeeping and they will bring the items to your room (they just won't make your bed).
